Athletic Handbook and Athlete Code of Conduct Revised

The Heritage Christian High School Athletic Department has revised the Student-Athlete Code of Conduct and Athletic Handbook, which has been reviewed by the HCS Leadership team and approved by the Board of Directors. The new Code of Conduct will be effective October 15, 2010. Student athletes participating in any sport will be required to read, understand and agree to be held by the expectations contained therein. Information contained in the new Code is being disseminated to student athletes in team meetings by coaches and via the HCS Athletic Website (under forms) among other means.

The Code of Conduct is part of the overall revision to the Athletic Handbook, which can be found on the Athletic Website. Highlights of significant changes to the policy include:
• Direct linkage to High School discipline policy
• Introduction of “Type A” and “Type B” offenses
• Higher level of disciplinary action for “Type A” offenses
• Eliminate any reference to “self report” or “non-self report”
• Significant changes in appeals process
• Inclusion of hazing and locker room policies (found in Athletic Handbook)

In connection with our High School policy, our goal in communicating the revised Code of Conduct for student athletes is to define expected student behavior and establish the procedure and process for addressing disciplinary measures. We are different at HCS, in that, our number one priority is to glorify God in everything we do. This is a tremendous responsibility, one that each of us should recognize at all times.
