Boys Soccer Team Honors Seniors and Shuts Out Park Tudor

The senior class, led by captains Evan Link and Connor Richards, was
determined to not allow Park Tudor to score. Evan Link played very
well in goal, and Connor Richards and Daniel Shake anchored a defense
that earned its fifth shut out of the season. Seniors Brad Giannini,
Zander Faidley, and Joey Winkle also contributed with positive
minutes. The offense had a few quality opportunities to score, but the
back of the net could not be found resulting in a tie game.

Coach Nelson was very proud of how the seniors played. "The seniors were
dialed in for this game, and it was apparent that they were determined
not to lose." The younger players played well in honor of the seniors.
Overall, it was a good result against a quality opponent.

The team's record now stands at 3-5-4. The next game will be on
Thursday, September 23rd at Greenwood Christian. Go Eagles!

Athletic Handbook and Athlete Code of Conduct Revised

The Heritage Christian High School Athletic Department has revised the Student-Athlete Code of Conduct and Athletic Handbook, which has been reviewed by the HCS Leadership team and approved by the Board of Directors. The new Code of Conduct will be effective October 15, 2010. Student athletes participating in any sport will be required to read, understand and agree to be held by the expectations contained therein. Information contained in the new Code is being disseminated to student athletes in team meetings by coaches and via the HCS Athletic Website (under forms) among other means.

The Code of Conduct is part of the overall revision to the Athletic Handbook, which can be found on the Athletic Website. Highlights of significant changes to the policy include:
• Direct linkage to High School discipline policy
• Introduction of “Type A” and “Type B” offenses
• Higher level of disciplinary action for “Type A” offenses
• Eliminate any reference to “self report” or “non-self report”
• Significant changes in appeals process
• Inclusion of hazing and locker room policies (found in Athletic Handbook)

In connection with our High School policy, our goal in communicating the revised Code of Conduct for student athletes is to define expected student behavior and establish the procedure and process for addressing disciplinary measures. We are different at HCS, in that, our number one priority is to glorify God in everything we do. This is a tremendous responsibility, one that each of us should recognize at all times.

Eagles Continue Winning Ways

The Heritage Christian Eagles football team went on the road last Friday night to Connersville and kept up their winning ways, with a 44-6 rout over the Spartans. The Eagles rushed for 138 yards as a team and threw for 240 yards with no turnovers. Andrew Brill, Riley Pallikan, Ryan Schrock, Matt Fitzpatrick and Brendon Burke protected the quarterback and opened large running lanes all night in a dominant O-Line performance. The Eagles defense played awesome as well limiting the Spartan aerial attack to only 81 yards. Nate Canfield, Brendon Burke, Matt Fitzpatrick and CJ Stein all had sacks and contributed to 30 total tackles. Heritage is ranked 6th in the state and will continue their road excursions as they travel to Beech Grove on Friday night. Beech Grove won in an upset last year at Heritage, so the Eagles are ready to get one back. We would love all fans to take the short drive over to Beech Grove and support your Eagles on the road.
